The annual California Assessment Conference (CAC) took place on October 27–29, 2026, at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, CA. The conference theme was "Elevating Best Practices, Inspiring Teachers and Students". At the event, Youth Policy Institute Charter Schools (YPICS) staff presented a session titled "What Happened When Everyone Taught Reading?" The workshop detailed both the successes and challenges of a two-year collaboration between YPICS and the Los Angeles County Office of Education Assessment Unit, which focused on strengthening student academic performance by leveraging the Smarter Balanced ecosystem.
